OUR SECOND TLM

We held our Second Traditional Latin Mass on March 5, 2008, Wednesday at Amelianum College Chapel. We hope that as time goes on we will e able to hold our TLM on a Sunday. Some members of the Oath Alliance of Two Hearts has expressed their desire and intention to attend said mass if scheduled on a Sunday. During weekdays it would be difficult to attract a group because most of the people are busy with their obs, professions and other obligations. Our Altar is still simple and bare but we hope that generous souls will help us procure everything we need for this wonderful celebration. Indeed, after forty years of Novus Ordo, we have discovered a great treasure in the TLM. We should praise God for this rediscovery of a Treasure, a gift from God called, the Holy Mass.

Hi Doc,

I'm just wondering, Bicolandia has been Catholic for centuries. Is it possible for us to ask help from your archbishop of Nueva Caceres if they still have those "antique" vestments, candelabras, altar cards.

And if they are in good condition, perhaps they can lend it to Fr. Abe, rather than have them them eaten by moths, or rot in the bodega. I mean, even if they put that as museum pieces, mas maganda naman ata that they are used for its original purpose than for viewing na lang.

Hi Josephus you give me an idea. But see Bicolandia is composed of Five Provinces. The Archdiocese of Nueva Caceres is 60 or 70 kilometers away from Sorsogon. Actually we cross borders. I belong to the Diocese of Legazpi, and Fr. Abe's school is located in the Diocese of Sorsogon. So if we need to borrow these vestments or articles the nearest to where Fr. Abe is holding mass is the Diocese of Sorsogon. I do not know if there is a functional museum in Sorsogon where they have these articles. But nonetheless thanks for the idea I will explore that.

The idea kasi came from a similar experience. I come from Bohol, another bastion of Catholicism in this country. The Church of the Immaculate Conception, the oldest Stone Church in the country, there, has a museum. And you'll be amazed at the complete vestments they still have there. From Mass vestments of priests, deacons, sub-deacons to highly ornamented pluvial copes. Complete set talaga sila hanggang sa burse.

The sad part is, for your eyes only na lang sila. Same with the altar cards, naku naglipana ang altar cards doon, 3 sets of 3 pieces each ata yung nakita ko. Again for your eyes only na lang, wala namang nagt-TLM doon. Even a 1962 Missal was there displayed, nagstart ng mapunit.

Dear Josephus,
You are right. I am sad and very sad to what is happening to our country and church. If in the past our Church could give grandeur to the worship of God, I wonder why now there is a neglect and sometimes complete ignorance of our past. No wonder our young men are not inspired to become priests.

I also saw vestments in San Agustin in Manila, but they were very old. But they were the smaller version of the Roman Vestments especially the chusable.

I've never been to Bohol, but I have heard it is a deeply Catholic country. I wish I could visit Bohol sometime.
