The Conclave Begins

I LIKE THE THOUGHT of His Holiness Benedict XVI when in an interview he said that the Holy Spirit guide the Church and the Cardinals in their choice of a Pope. Not in the sense that the Holy Spirit tells the Cardinal-Electors directly whom to vote, but the inspiration does not do away with the freedom of choice. The Holy Spirit inspires but the human will has the choice to follow the inspiration or to go the other way around. This is the reason why in the past there were persons who were unworthy and yet were elected as popes. Perhaps the electors did not listen well to what the Holy Spirit inspires. But this was rare exceptions, because the vast majority of Popes were good Popes and were known for their saintliness.

LET US PRAY for our Church as the conclave begins for the choice of the new Pope.
Viva il Papa!
