In today's lesson from Jeremiah 11:18-20 we read the prophet prophesied of the Lord, "I was a meek lamb that is carried to be a victim..." As we meditate on the passion of our Lord, we are reminded of the priestly office of the Lord. He was not only the Priest but also the victim. Meek as a Lamb brought to the slaughter, by His obedience and person offered to God a pleasing sacrifice. A sacrifice of propitiation and atonement. For by ourselves there is no way that we can be saved. Christ offered himself for us. Should not the meditation of the passion of Christ humble us and bring us to repentance. How do we put to shame the Lord when we crucify Him a new by our repeated sinfulness and lack of repentance. Oh, Lord meek as a Lamb grant us the strength to live in the spirit of your sacrifice so that by doing your will we may deserve to obtain what you promise to us in the world to come. Amen.
