Today the Church celebrates the solemnity of the purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary or otherwise known as Candlemass. Among the tradition of the Filipinos along with the other Catholics around the world, I find candlemass as the most serene. The faithful find this an opportunity to have candles blessed and to assist at Mass.
My prayer:
O, Mary through the prophecy of Simeon, the sword of sorrows have been foretold, let us console you with our poor presence as you mourn the sufferings of your Son. But in the midst of these sorrows you saw the light of hope. Obtain for us the grace to see this light in the midst of worldly sorrow so that we may persevere in the way. Intercede for our Pope, so that he will have grace to stand against the criticisms of ungodly people. We pray for unity of the Church and for unity of everyone in the church. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
